C&A Pumps have been awarded a position as a Costain Framework Supplier. “After several months of evaluations and interviews, we are proud to have been awarded a position on this prestigious supply chain framework. This has required being able to prove that we can safely and consistently deliver quality along with our supply of services and equipment," said Alan Roberts, C&A Director.
Costain CEO, Andrew Wyllie wants to slash the firm’s supply chain to just 1,000 subcontractors within 5 years. He expects the number to end up between 2,000 and 3,000 by the end of 2008 and has not ruled out further pruning. "We could tighten that number up further; just 1,000 is possible."
He admitted Costain will have to fight for suppliers, but added, “We will be getting a supply chain with consistent strength and greater innovation. We get the ‘A’-team on board.”
The supply chain is intended to operate in a collaborative – and increasingly integrated – way and thereby deliver consistent quality, whilst maintaining the best standards of safety and cost for the client, who in turn may give more business to Costain.
