When one of our service engineers suffered a puncture injury to his hand from a used syringe while unblocking a sewage pump on a housing estate, our engineering team looked at how we could stop this happening again.

As our suppliers could not provide an existing tool for dealing with this issue, we designed, tested in the field and then manufactured our own lightweight, easy to use tool to solve the problem. This new tool allows our workforce to remove blockages from pumps without the need to make direct contact with waste materials.

This pump unblocking tool is now a stock item that we retail to other specialists in the water industry.
